DON PHILLIP DURBAN (Founder / Exec. Producer) – Don grew up in the surf culture of Orange County, Ca. and took to the waves with a passion. He started his first of many action sports TV series, “New Waves” in 1986 and became part of a new generation of sports producers. Many years before the term “Extreme” and the launch of the “X Games”, Don and his company, Aqua Media produced TV specials and series geared to the alternative sports market & lifestyle, today known as “Extreme” or “Action Sports.”
Don joined Bennett Productions in 1988 in Los Angeles. While there, Don helped launch many shows including the global children’s TV series, “Wide World of Kids” and the nature TV show that is now “Jack Hanna – Animal Adventures”. While at BPI, he acted as a marketing, media and programming consultant to many companies including Coors, General Mills. Pepsi and GMC Trucks developing innovative marketing programs (to promote their product lines to the youth and sports markets).
Don also produced numerous sports TV series including “Ocean Blue”, “Hot Sports” and “Kid Trilogy”. Soon afterwards, he formed Studio Earth Alliance (S.E.A.) to produce reality TV shows targeted towards the outdoor adventure marketplace.
His multi-award nominated TV special, “Earth TV” featured eco-adventures around the world with actor- Gregory Harrison, surf journalist- Matt George, musician- Kenny Loggins and animal rights activist and actress- Tippi Hedren. Sponsored by Edison and Travel Channel, this program featured the concept of eco-adventure tourism. Don continued to work with many corporate clients including Ford, Sony, BMG Music and others in programming and media initiatives. Don then launched the hit sports lifestyle TV series, “Planet X” in early 1995 on Prime Sports (now Fox Sports Net). Planet X is under a radical transformation with new announcements coming out soon.
